Dead Signal

Hold a radio mast on a snowbound mountain at night while robot spiders and drones close in. Three minutes until the rescue signal gets through.

Outpost Kilo-7 is a fenced post on a mountaintop, at night, in falling snow, and the relay mast at its centre is the only way off. The rescue signal climbs from 0 to 100% over three minutes. Your job is to still be standing when it gets there.

The machines come from outside the fence. Spider robots run you down and crouch before they lunge, and drones circle overhead and charge their eye before they fire. Shoot them and they come apart into their legs, rotors and panels, and sometimes leave ammo behind.

Three weapons: the M17 sidearm, which never runs out, the AR-7 carbine with a red-dot sight, and the M870 pump shotgun, loaded a shell at a time. Aim down the sights, sprint, and keep the flashlight on — it is dark out there.

Hold out to 100% and the mast fires its beam into the sky. Fall, and the signal is lost. Either way you get your time, your kills and your accuracy, and one key to go again.

Or play Survival: no transmission and no rescue, just how long you last. The machines come faster, hit harder and fill the sky with more drones the longer you hold, and never level off. Your ten best runs go on the leaderboard under the name you give them, sorted by time, spiders or drones.

Every model in it was built by script in Blender and every sound is synthesised; there is not one bought or downloaded asset. It plays in the browser with a keyboard and mouse now, and a Windows version follows.
